Who needs Trailer Training?
For those that don't take the required trailer training they run the risk of prosecution with potential of incurring points on your licence and/ or a large fine. Check your licence and see what your entitlements are and if you only see category B, then you need to read on, as to tow beyond certain weights you need B+E entitlement.
So who needs trailer training and is it straight forward?
The answer is, that is not as simple as everyone needs to do the training and there is some advice on Direct. gov. However if you have passed your test since 1st January 1997 or recently disqualified then you will find that you now need to take trailer training, if you intend to tow trailers such as a horsebox or caravan. You will read on the government website about the MAM not exceeding 4.25 tons, but at Sirens Driving Academy we feel that all young, new or inexperienced drivers should take some form of trailer training, as the handling of the vehicle, speed limits and skill required alters considerably when you add a trailer.
